About Katie

Web, UX, SEO, Photography
Hello, my name is Katie Cann

Following graduation from The Evergreen State College, I worked a variety of roles within the photography industry for eight years. Five of those years I spent running my own wedding and portrait photography business.

In 2015 it was time for a change, so I went back to school, earning a web development certificate from Seattle University. Since leaving SU, I’ve spent the past eight years working at a Seattle digital agency, where I have taken on a variety of roles including quality assurance testing, digital marketing, web design, website management, and more.

As a strong believer in lifetime learning I strive to continue to add skills to my repertoire. I completed a User Experience Certificate from the School of Visual Concepts in 2018 and am currently working towards the Google Digital Marketing & eCommerce Certificate in my free time.

My ultimate goal is to utilize my varied experience and skill set to help build and maintain products that foster human connection, are usable, enjoyable, and communicate clearly. For me the excitement of our new digital environment isn’t about the technology itself, it’s about better serving the people on the other side of that technology.

I was first drawn to photography as a teen visiting Italy with my parents. Then began using the darkroom in high school and stayed there all through college. I worked in camera store/photo lab for over two years selling gear and working as a Black & White darkroom technician. After that I ran my own portrait and wedding photography business for nearly 6 years. I will always have a passion for making photos.
