About Katie

Portrait of Katie Cann
Web, UX, SEO, Photography
Hello, my name is Katie Cann

Following graduation from The Evergreen State College, I worked a variety of roles within the photography industry for eight years. Five of those years I spent running my own wedding and portrait photography business.

In 2015, I shifted my focus to web development, earning a certificate from Seattle University. After completing the program, I spent eight years at a Seattle digital agency, taking on roles in quality assurance testing, digital marketing, web design, website management, and more for a variety of clients.

In my current role as the US Division Marketing Coordinator for an international greenhouse brand, I supported the rebranding of two heritage brands within six months of starting, helping modernize their visual identity and messaging. I also oversee content strategy, website management, paid and organic social media campaigns, email marketing, and brand initiatives across the US division. Additionally, I create and manage digital and print content, product photography, and video, helping drive engagement, lead generation, and conversions across channels.

A strong believer in lifetime learning, I hold a User Experience Certificate from School of Visual Concepts and continually expand my skills in ecommerce, digital marketing, and web strategy. My goal is to leverage this versatile experience to build and maintain products and campaigns that foster human connection, are usable and enjoyable, and communicate clearly. For me, the excitement of our digital environment is not just about the technology, it is about better serving the people on the other side of it.

After that I ran my own portrait and wedding photography business for nearly 6 years. I will always have a passion for making photos.

Katie is an absolute joy to work with. I was lucky enough to work on several projects with her and both her intelligence and thoughtfulness were demonstrated daily.

She is more than capable of wearing as many hats as you can put on her head. I've seen her wrangle Wordpress, boost SEO, refactor out-dated html and css and troubleshoot pesky Javascript all in a day, while simultaneously communicating expectations with teammates and stakeholders in empathetic, clear terms. Her ability to anticipate and stay ahead of potential project pitfalls while staying cool under tight deadlines is really something to see.

She was a great teammate and I highly recommend her to anyone considering her for a position. And feel free to get in touch with me if you have any questions about her at all. She's the real thing.

Senior Software Engineer

I had the pleasure of working with Katie on a large scale web development project.

If you're in need of web design, strategic content, and/or theme development, Katie is a person that's going to be able to deliver. Katie's get-it-done work ethic and enthusiastic demeanor were a huge advantage to both our project and our team.

In our particular situation, taking on new subject matter and tech was necessary at times. While showing wisdom in pointing out what might be new and what might take additional time, Katie never shied away from the opportunity to expand her horizons or work in new spheres of thought.

Katie's outstanding ability to execute, grow and communicate in balance make her an ideal addition to any strategic web development operation.
