About Katie

Hello, my name is Katie Cann and I'm a
User Experience Designer
I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, running around in overall shorts and spending my summers reading, doodling, and boating. My college studies focused on photography, visual arts, and writing. Following college, I worked a variety of roles within the photography industry for eight years. Five of those years I spent running my own wedding and portrait photography business.
In 2015 it was time for something new, so I went back to school, earning a web development certificate from Seattle University. Since leaving SU, I’ve been working for a small Seattle web agency, where I have progressively taken on more roles including Q.A. and Junior Web Designer. I have recently completed a User Experience Certificate from the School of Visual Concepts and look forward to moving towards a role in UX.
My ultimate goal is to help build products that foster human connection, are usable, enjoyable, and communicate clearly. For me the excitement of our new digital environment isn’t about the technology itself, it’s about better serving the people on the other side of that technology.

A Personal History.

I was first drawn to photography as a teen visiting Italy with my parents. Then began using the darkroom in high school and stayed there all through college. I worked in camera store/photo lab for over two years selling gear and working as a Black & White darkroom technician. After that I ran my own portrait and wedding photography business for nearly 6 years. I will always have a passion for making photos.
